Many dog owners have a common worry, which is their dog's barking. It not only affects their own families but also their neighbors and can be considered disturbing the peace. So, how can we make the dog stop barking? Cooldey Pet Supplies is here to give you some tips.
Let the dog exercise more to burn off excess energy.
Adequate exercise can consume the dog's excessive energy. Especially after a day of playing or running, dogs would rather have a good sleep than waste energy barking.
Let the dog play with toys to feel accompanied.
When the owner goes out, they can first touch the toys that the dog often plays with by hand. The main purpose is to let the toys get the owner's scent on them. The dog will feel at ease because of smelling the owner's scent and will stop barking.
Have a chat with the dog to soothe its emotions.
Sometimes a dog barks continuously just to convey certain information to the owner, such as a lack of a sense of security, loneliness, and so on. If this is the case, the owner can respond appropriately, and the dog will stop barking.
Give a reprimand.
If the dog keeps barking, the owner can lift its chin and tell it not to bark. After the dog stops barking following the reprimand, the owner should praise it in a timely manner and give some small treats or compliments as encouragement.
Use sound warnings.
When a puppy barks, create some louder noises. Since a dog's hearing is more sensitive, louder noises will be unbearable for the puppy.
Use other anti-barking devices.
For dogs that like to bark in public places, the owner can choose to put an anti-barking muzzle on the dog. An ultrasonic anti-barking device can also be used.
Distract the dog's attention.
You can use something to distract the dog's attention. For example, throw it a bone that it loves to chew on. Especially, the harder it is to bite through, the more challenging it is for the dog. When the dog keeps barking, throw it the item it likes to chew on first!
